Developing the partners who will lead the firm next.

Most firms promote their best technical people into partnership with very little preparation for what the job actually is.

Partners are expected to win work, lead teams, manage clients, and help shape the firm, often all at once and with no one showing them how. I coach the people carrying that weight, and the people who are about to.

Two people in conversation, silhouetted against a bright window.

Coaching I offer

Partner candidate coaching

The year or two before the vote. Building the business case, the client relationships, the reputation, and the leadership presence partners look for.

New partner transition

The first year, when the expectations change overnight and the old way of working stops being enough.

Executive coaching for partners and senior leaders

One-on-one work on the leadership challenges that come with more responsibility.

Leadership team coaching

Small groups working on how they lead together, make decisions, and hold each other accountable.

What coaching often covers

  • Business development habits that fit the person, not a script
  • Leading people who were peers last year
  • Delegation, time, and where a partner's attention should go
  • Executive presence and communication with partners and clients
  • Handling conflict and difficult conversations
  • A personal plan for the next three years

How it works

Coaching happens one-on-one or in small groups, in person in Houston or by video. It's personal work, so it stays personal. Firms often sponsor coaching for a partner or candidate. When that's the case, we agree up front on what gets shared with the firm and what stays between me and the person I'm coaching.

Let's talk about what's next for your firm.

The first conversation is simply a chance to talk through what's on your mind. No preparation needed.
